If your child is struggling or behind on their reading scores, we can help! We are trained in multiple intervention models including the Next StepsSM and Higher StepsSM, models proven through university research to be the most effective at bringing kids up to grade-reading level.
These reading intervention classes are designed for students at a beginning of 1st grade reading level to end of 2nd grade reading level. With your student, we will focus reading instructional level texts, vowel pattern mastery for one syllable words through word study and spelling work. These classes also establish the beginnings of reading fluency and helps students feel more motivated to keep learning!
Next Steps lessons typically include:
Practice with high frequency words
Reading alongside a tutor with texts at their current reading level with word recognition and comprehension supports
Word study to learn and practice vowel patterns
Fluency practice to help students read faster and more accurately
These reading intervention classes are designed for students who are at a beginning of 3rd grade reading level or above. Students focus on reading complex texts closer to their grade level, advanced word study of syllable types and vowel patterns, spelling, vocabulary, and developing accurate reading fluency.
Higher Steps lessons typically include:
Vocabulary practice with grade-level words
Reading alongside a tutor with texts closer to their grade level with word recognition and comprehension supports
Word study to learn and practice syllable types, vowel patterns, and other
Fluency practice to help students read faster and more accurately
We know you already have a lot on your schedule - work, errands, sports, and playdates. To ease the burden on families, we allow you to schedule tutoring classes via online video meetings so there is one less errand to run!
To track your students progress, we will provide regular data-backed insights to demonstrate their advancements across different lessons. This will identify continued areas of focus and what headway they've made in lessons so far. Depending on the starting level of your child, these progress charts will include reading accuracy, fluency, and comprehension.
