Leveled Books and Passages (Click to view books)
Leveled readers are essential in a reading program, offering predictable patterns, controlled vocabulary, and high-frequency words that boost fluency and confidence.
High-frequency words, or sight words, can be recognized instantly and reduce cognitive strain by minimizing the need to sound out every word, which can otherwise hinder motivation. Additionally, leveled readers teach print concepts.
Paired with decodable books that focus on phonics, they provide a well-balanced approach to reading skill development and comprehension.
These books are most effective when your child reads them with an experienced reader.
Tips for reading leveled books with your child:
Have the child point to each word while reading.
Prompt the child with the beginning sound for challenging words.
Guided Reading Levels (A-Z) are commonly used in schools.
